| Project Description |
Luas Line B2 project involves an extension of over 9 km to the Luas Green Line from the terminus of Line B1 at Brides Glen to the planned high-density residential and commercial developments west of Bray with a spur line to link with the Dart Station at Bray. (The scope of this project is longer by around 5 km compared with that originally envisaged in Transport 21; this follows extensive public consultation by the RPA on route options. As a result, the project will require substantial non-exchequer funding, including levies from supplementary development contribution schemes and other developer contributions). |
| Projected Completion Date |
Completion date will be subject to the relevant statutory process and the procurement and contract award processes; the start and completion dates of projects which have not yet commenced, including the Cherrywood to Bray Luas extension, will also be determined by the funding allocation available during the current difficult economic climate.

| Current Status of Project |
Transport Minister Martin Cullen TD, together with the Chief Executive of the Railway Procurement Agency, Mr Frank Allen, announced in June 2007, the preferred route selected by the RPA for the Cherrywood to Bray area Green Line Luas extension. Following further public consultation on options for linking the proposed new Luas line with the DART, the RPA decided in September 2007 that the scope of the project would be extended to provide for a link to the Bray DART station subject to a funding structure which keeps the overall cost within the capital envelope for this project in Transport 21. This new Luas line (known as Luas Line B2) will run from Brides Glen to Fassaroe. It will broadly follow the route of the old Harcourt Street rail alignment over the Bride's Glen viaduct to the M11 which will be crossed on a new bridge. The line will then continue south, parallel to the motorway to Wilford. Here the line will split. One branch will continue along Old Connaught Avenue into Bray, passing through the proposed new development on the golf course lands to terminate at Bray Daly DART station. The other passes to the south of Old Connaught, under Thornhill Road near St. Gerard's School, across Ballyman Glen on a new road/rail bridge and will terminate in the planned town centre development in Fassaroe. There will be a Park and Ride facility at Fassaroe. |
