Project Description
This provision will fund the implementation of a range of traffic management, bus priority, car restraint, and park and ride measures in the Regional cities of Cork, Galway, Limerick, and Waterford.
 
These include the construction of Green Routes, Quality Bus Corridors (QBCs), cycle paths, improved pedestrian facilities, traffic management support systems, and park and ride.
 
The bulk of the expenditure is earmarked for the delivery of Green Routes or QBCs designed to reduce the travel time for passengers, improve bus performance and improve the quality of the public transport experience.
 
Capital funding for traffic management measures in the Regional Cities is provided by the Department to the local authorities in the Regional Cities in support of the transportation strategies set out in the relevant land use and transportation plan, Development Plans, and other transportation plans for the regional city concerned.
