The following developments took place in July 2010:
ROADS
N7 Limerick Tunnel PPP Scheme (N7 Limerick Southern Ring Road Phase 2)
This scheme opened on 27 July 2010, two months ahead of schedule. It comprises 9.75 km of new Dual Carriageway, along with 2.3 km of Single Carriageway (Clonmacken Link Road) and a 675m tunnel crossing under the river Shannon, linking the N7 Limerick Southern Ring Road Phase 1 and N20 Cork Road with the N18 Ennis Road. Peak time savings on journeys between the N7 East of Limerick and the N18 North of the city are up to 20 minutes. The scheme is being funded through a Public Private Partnership between the NRA and DirectRoute.
