The following developments took place in May 2010:



METRO

Metro North:
The European Investment Bank (EIB) Board approved a loan of up to €500m for the Metro North project at its meeting on 11 May 2010.



ROADS

M7/M8 Portlaoise to Cullahill / Castletown PPP:
The new wishbone-shaped 41km M7/M8 Portlaoise to Cullahill / Castletown PPP Motorway Scheme was officially opened on 28 May 2010. Costing €491m the scheme was completed four months ahead of schedule in a PPP partnership between the National Roads Authority and Celtic Roads Group (Portlaoise) Ltd. Providing a motorway / dual carriageway link between Dublin and Cork it will cut up to 45 minutes off the 231km Dublin to Cork journey at peak times. It also forms a significant section of the M7 motorway link between Dublin and Limerick.
