The following developments took place in June:

LUAS

Luas extensions to the Docklands (Luas Line C1)

On 13 June 2007, the RPA commenced enabling works on the project to extend the Red Luas Line from Connolly Station through the Docklands to The Point.

Extension of trams on Red Line (Tallaght)

Two further trams on the Red Line were extended from 30 metres to 40 metres at the end of June. Four of the extended trams are operational. All 26 trams on the Red Line are being extended to 40 metres to cater for passenger growth.


HEAVY RAIL

Delivery of Intercity Railcars

Of the 183 Intercity railcars Iarnród Éireann have on order, a further 12 were delivered in June, bringing the total to 24 in the country. The first of these new Intercity railcars will begin entering service in Autumn 2007, the Sligo-Dublin and Rosslare-Dublin lines will be the first to benefit from the new railcars.

Cork Commuter Rail Services

The Railway Order became enforceable on 1 June 2007 for the Glounthaune to Midleton line. Irish Rail will now proceed with enabling work and with finalising the procurement processes associated with the project.
