In the light of the adjusted capital allocation provided to my Department in the April Supplementary Budget, a review of project and programme priorities has been carried out. Among the matters considered as part of the review was the labour intensity of the projects contained in the Department's capital programme.

As a result, my Department's priorities for the coming years include:
· completion of the major inter-urban roads programme,
· completion of the M50 upgrade project,
· progress on the Atlantic Road Corridor,
· provision of additional capacity on the public transport network through the delivery of key projects such as Metro North and the DART Underground programme.

In addition, substantial funding will continue to be provided for the regional and local roads programme.
